Not reconsidering, thanks.

Dear Car Insurance Lady,

Thank you for contacting me regarding my inquiry about insurance quotes from nearly two months ago. Since that time I have decided on a policy with another provider, because otherwise this Great State would not have allowed me to register my car here.

Also, even if I were to reconsider my decision, as per your suggestion in your most recent email, I would not go to you. Usually, if you are making a business contact for the first time, it is customary NOT to begin the email with "Hey Jenski". Just so you know.

Sincerely,
Jenski

I always prefer my initial contact to be more of a "Hey Wasssup!!!", but I'm a little more old fasioned.

Or they will call you Ms. last name.

And then you have to decide if you correct them or not...

Note: I figured out really quickly that when I go to a doctor's office, dentist, etc. for the first time that if the doctor walks in and says "Hi, I'm doctor last name", you should reply with "Hi, I'm doctor last name."

It usually spawns a bit of a bonding moment where they ask you about your field of study, etc.
And then they treat you like you might have a brain.

What does that say about M.D. training? I'm not sure. But your comment about the way people refer to you triggered all of this.

It doesn't make up for all of the tears, but I think that little everyday moments like this helped me heal a little bit.

LOL I've never had a sales rep address me with the salutation "Hey". Did she sign off the e-mail with "Later Skater"?

Ron, that's helpful if you don't know someone's first name. ;-)

Danielle, I am TOTALLY going to do that at my doctor's appointments! I was sad because many of my bills don't have a "Dr." option and I left that question blank on a recent questionnaire because I'm not a Mrs., Miss, or Ms.

Spark, it was "thanks", which really didn't make sense in the whole exchange either...
