Chunky

I love my peanut butter chunky. My juice and smoothies not so much.

I am trying to have a smoothie most days with yogurt and fruit. I was making them in my blender, then pouring them into something I could take to work, then having to clean BOTH things.

Then, I found this. It is essentially the same thing as the Rocket that has been all over the infomercials in the past. The thing is great. You blend it right in the cup; you put the lid on and you take it with you! I highly recommend it.

Now maybe I do not blend things long enough. I thought my old blender was just getting worn out and leaving chunks, but this morning I made watermelon "juice" in my new smoothie blender thing and it had chunks. How hard is it to blend up a fruit that is mostly water with some minimal plant matter holding it all together??

[As an aside, you can actually put a standard blender bottom on a pint canning Bell jar and blend a smoothie right in there. I lost the one pint jar I had though.]

[My second aside, if you like watermelon, try blending it up with a dash of orange juice and drinking it. Yum!]

I still remember the summer we were eating smoothies before supper as a way to stave off hunger until supper was made. We'd also eat less supper, which was an added bonus - since the smoothies were undoubtably healthier than anything we'd eat for supper. The blueberry and berry ones were my favorites. The seeds were a little weird, but all in all, very yummy.

Watermelon sounds delicious! I've actually never thought to put it in a smoothie, but I'll have to try it.

Last time I had unexpected chunks in a blended drink was the last time I ever had a chocolate milkshake. I thought it was chocolate chips, but they tasted really waxy. Finally I spat one out. It was pieces of some really huge, horrible, striped bug that had fallen into the milkshake blender and gotten whipped into tiny pieces. Lucky for my friends I have a strong stomach!

Danielle, that's a great idea to have a smoothie before dinner. I try to save mine for the afternoon as a snack so I don't pig out when I get home for the same reason.

Maxie, SO good. It's good as just watermelon juice too.

Ron, smoothies are easy to make too. I swear!

Spark, that is absolutely disgusting. That would definitely ruin chocolate milkshakes for me.
