Today my parents have been married for 35 years.
There are lots of anti-examples in life. My parents are a prime example of what I do want to be though! I know it has not always been easy, not because they made that apparent to us growing up, but because how could it be easy living with the same person for 35 years? Their first date/dance/kiss was New Year's Eve and they were married the following July 21st. My Mom always says that they did NOT know each other at all when they got married.
I love stories from their honeymoon: they did not have any money left and spent the last night of their honeymoon eating Kentucky Fried Chicken and drinking cheap beer by the ocean. My Mom claims she had never seen a condom and made my Dad buy one on their honeymoon (no need to fill in other stories here).
They obviously got to know each other over the past 35 years, continued to love each other, and made it through the hard times. They do not read (nor do they need to bro & sis), but it does make me happy to know that they are still together, setting an example, and wanted to share.

Congrats to your mom and dad. 35 years is an accomplishment especially in todays environment where it's so easy to just call it quits.
Good for them! May they have many more happy years together. My grandparents have been married for more than 65 years now - crazy, eh?
Ron, I am proud to tell people how long they have been married!
Spark, 65 years, huh? That's pushing it. :-)
Congrats to them! That's a fabulous accomplishment!
