I'm ready to talk about it now.

Over the weekend, I was at that spinning class and showered at the gym so I wouldn't have to sit in my own filth on the drive home (pleasant, huh?). So I'm drying my hair and using a round brush and one specific hair stands out at me, all shiny. I was thinking to myself, "Nooooooooo. It can't be!" But it was.

The first gray hair I've ever found or had found on my head.

When I got home, I told my roommate she had to help me!

She was all, "What? What do you need me to do?"

I told her the story of drying my hair and seeing the shiny hair. Sure enough, she found it.

This morning I was drying my hair again and saw one. Tonight, my roommate confirmed that there is more than one gray hair on my head, but assured me that they are still at a low and countable number.

I blame the bright lights at the gym for this discovery. My bathroom is way to dark to notice this at home.

Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry. I found my first about a year ago. I've seen a few since then, but not many. But just today, while I was washing my hands at work, I noticed in the mirror something shiny in my hair... And sure enough! Another gray. GAH!

haha- don't feel bad. A lot of young people start finding grey hairs...one of my best friends has too many to count now and she's 23

You OWN that gray hair. You've earned it, right? Say, "this one is from dealing with editors at journals, and this one is from my PI."

oh, honey... *sigh* i'm like caro, plenty in my part, mostly. your hair is light enough that they may look blonde from a distance. also, you can try telling yourself that it makes you look distinguished. i'm trying to love my grays, personally. it's an up and down battle, but i think i've reached acceptance.

It's all because you are so old! :)

Thanks for the support everyone. :)

I don't mind having a couple gray hairs, and they are all in my part. It is strange because I've had so many people tell me I look a lot younger than I am recently.

I'm totally contributing these gray hairs to grad school. My advisor said I'm one step closer to finishing because of them.

I like the part that your advisor said about getting closer to finishing because of your gray hairs. It made me smile and chuckle.

Personally, the guy who cuts my hair said something once which has become my motto regarding my (uber number of) gray hairs.

"These are my natural highlights."

As I've said before (although maybe not to you), my grandpa had a lot of gray at 18, my Dad in his 20's, and me in my mid to late 20's. So evidently, it is getting better with each generation.... ;-)

I don't mind having a few silver hairs (silver sounds so much better than grey). Now I have the motivation to colour my hair. I used to be too lazy. Now I colour it "Cherry Chocolate" and it's awesome.

Michael, that's so sad...I don't want to be soooo old. :)

Danielle, my advisor does have her moments. I like the "natural highlights"! My mom is blond and swore she'd never go gray, the blond would just get lighter. The blond is now looking grayer.

Spark, 'cherry chocolate' sound like a nice color! If ever I color my hair, I'd definitely bring out the red in it.
