Must be spring!

Lots of things make me think the few days of spring in the are are here. Once spring comes, summer is usually a few days behind. It's a fast transition. It was in the 70s today and I definitely got a sunburn on my arms playing outside with a bunch of 4-year olds. The trees had small buds a couple of days ago and are all leafing out now. Daffodils and tulips abound. Easter was weeks ago, but Passover starts tonight.

My niece's birthday party was great. My sister loves decorating cakes (and made every part of the cake decorations in the following pictures). This year's (It is from the back, so those flowers sticking out have yellow centers):Last year's:Mine and my niece's a couple of years ago.
For my nephew my sister has made a campfire cake, a Finding Nemo cake, and I do not remember what else.

I just got home from my first Passover Seder ever. It was great! I particularly liked one of the reading my friend put at the end of the Haggadah by Joy Lovitt. I can frequently find something that speaks to me in whatever religious ceremony I am at (such as Catholic Mass with various friends over the years). This one was talking about finding the "missing" (i.e. hidden) piece of matzo when you are a child and you have lots of adults coaching you on where to look but as you get older, you no longer have as many coaches and you need to look on your own, etc. I would totally go to another Seder. :) Happy Passover!

[In a completely unrelated note, my parents had an old ergonomic keyboard that I am using now because my old one crapped out on me, thanks to a bit of spilled wine I think. This inherited one is great!]

Those cakes are incredible. YOu will have to tell your sister that I was really amazed.

Did she take a cake decorating class?

I *heart* those cakes very much. Especially.... I was going to pick just one, but I'm going with Especially All of Them.

And (pay attention Ron!) Ceder/Seder is from a Hebrew word, written in the Hebrew alphabet, so there's no single correct way to spell it in English. It's a free for all!

I will pass on everyone's comments on the cakes! My sister has, in fact, taken cake decorating classes at a crafts store. The only one she hasn't is wedding cakes. She doesn't know this yet, but she'll make mine so she should think about that...

Spark, thanks for the information!
