Things I did today

Went to the gym after a 5-day hiatus. Oiy.

Drank about 4 liters of water. I always drink more when I bring a bigger water bottle to work! I do not understand why my eyes are dry right now.

Accomplished little to no science.

Forgot my cell phone at home. After 15 hours away from home, the only thing I had was a text message from the EX. HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL HIM I DO NOT WANT TO PAY FOR HIM TO TEXT ME?!?! Especially from a Red Sox game. That's just mean.

Helped clean up after an undergrad in the lab went off to practice and forgot she was filling a carboy and it overflowed and went into the lab downstairs.'

Tried to find a balance between being responsible for our animal facility and making the department manager and my advisor take care of it. Seriously, if I were PI, I would just do it. As a grad student, I don't know who to call for an emergency water situation in the frog room, nor do I have any account information they would require to make said service call. [The frogs are fine, we are just currently unable to do the partial water changes that keep the algae down in the frog room.]

Found out one of the Fulbright applicants I worked with GOT THE FELLOWSHIP! I CAN make a positive impact on people's lives?!

Tutored a bunch.

Met with a dean for 1 1/2 hours. It was productive. I think we are on the same page for some stuff now. Other stuff? Well, what she does not see will not hurt her. If she does not want big flower arrangements, the graduate student group will just send them to the award recipients! :)

Came home and ate two cookies.

Now I need to empty the dishwasher. Who likes to empty the dishwasher when they get home at 9:15?!

Ummm... I don't have a dishwasher. Then again I only use paper plates and plastic utensils so I guess it's all good.

Most of your day sounds like one big Oiy to me. The text, the water, the frog problem, the dishes, no supper. Although the dean part sounds relatively positive. And having an applicant get a Fulbright is Amazing!! Terrific!

As long as the frogs were OK, and you got some cookies, all told it's not such a bad day. :-)

Bah, chores at 10pm suck.

Good on you for supporting that Fulbright applicant!

Poor froggies. I hope they don't forget what it looks like outside the tank.

Ron, I guess paper and plastic does make for easier clean-up!

Maxie, I agree it feels nice to be exercise-sore!

Danielle, I was definitely happy for the good things!

Spark, those frogs are so well taken care of, it's not even funny. :)

Aurora, I ended up NOT emptying the dishwasher that night. :)

Molly, yup.
